The People behind SCYC

Meet our Officers: 

timTimothy Long, President, owns a Management Consulting Business, Belmar Innovations LLC, in Washington DC. He is a graduate of West Virginia University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Tim also has an MBA from Averett University.  Tim has prior charitable experience with Friends United for Need and the Planet Hollywood Ambassador Program.

 

 John White, Vice President, is an Application Support Senior Engineer in the IT department of BioTel Research in Rockville, MD.  He has a BS and MS degree in Mathematics from VA Tech and an MS in Bioinformatics from George Mason University.  John has been an active SCYC Board Member the last two years before moving into the Vice President’s role this year. 

 

Michele S Cumberland, Secretary/Treasurer, is a Managing Member at Mid-Atlantic Commercial Law Group PLLC. She is a graduate of the College of William &  Mary, and has a J.D. from Dickinson School of Law. Michele’s prior charitable  experience includes: Board Member, American Red Cross, Alexandria Chapter (2009-2010); Gala Chairman, American Red Cross, Alexandria Chapter (2009); Auction Chairman, American Red Cross, Alexandria Chapter (2008). Michele has been an active member of The Twig since 2016.

 

 

Meet our Board:

Rachel Peretz, Board Member, is Director of Marketing & Business Development at the American Moving and Storage Association. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky,  where she was one of the founders of WRFL – Radio Free Lexington. Prior to her association with SCYC, she was a board member at Temple House of Israel, where  she led Staunton, Virginia’s Jewish Film Festival for two years. Rachel is also a  grant writer, having won grant awards for her current association, homeless shelters, and arts organizations.

Evan Lese, Board Member, currently works at Accenture Federal Services as a HR Business Consultant. He is a graduate of Averett University with a bachelor’s in finance. Evan has prior charitable experience with Food and Friends, The  Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Best Buddies.

 

 

 

Kim Moore, Board Member, A long-time resident of Alexandria, Kim is the Director of Reimbursement and Regulatory Affairs at Heart Rhythm Society. She has served on the City of Alexandria’s Consumer Affairs Commission, been a Board member and President of the Adoption Center of Washington, and currently serves as Chairman of The Ballyshaners, a local non-profit that promotes and preserves irish Heritage and Culture. The group hosts the annual Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Parade. She lives in the Seminary Valley neighborhood of Alexandria with her husband and two sons.
